Selecting the Right Beginner Acoustic Guitar

March 15th, 2008

If you are taking guitar lessons, your private instructor may advise that you purchase a nylon-stringed beginner acoustic guitar. Naturally, if you’re learning to play guitar because you would like to play like a rock star, nylon strings, or indeed the tone of a classical guitar is never going to sound right to you. If you already recognize you want to wind up playing steel-string music, then you are better off starting out with a steel string guitar. If you prefer to play classical guitar music, try not to let someone else talk you into learning with a steel-string.

If you want to buy a steel-string beginner acoustic guitar, the most popular type is the six-string dreadnought. Most beginner acoustic guitars have got a spruce top. If you are searching for a brighter tone when you are learning to play the guitar, try out guitars with a mahogany back and sides. Guitars with a rosewood back and sides will make a more accented tone.
