Finding Classical Music Online

July 24th, 2008

For the majority of teenagers, anything that has to do with classical music is completely foreign and unfamiliar, which can make a school project on classical composers or types of symphonies and instruments a real challenge. Surfing the Internet may not be of much help, since there are so many news about classical music and concerts, as well as reviews of classical CDs. Teens might even end up browsing for rap stations to listen to instead of stations playing classical music online. Don’t worry, though, there is a way through the confusion. After listening to snippets of classical music on the internet, try to find a few classical CDs. You can find many of these at a very cheap price in music stores. Albums that feature the works of several composers are usually the best, as this will allow you to listen to many different works and will make it possible to compare them. This will allow you to tell apart the musical styles of the various composers and help you to determine what you like. Learn how each piece of classical music affects you physically. You will find that different composers and compositions can have a profound effect on your mood and energy level. Pretty soon you will have found your favorite pieces of classical music and a good deal of research material for your school project.

Learn to play Guitar

May 20th, 2008

Learn to play the guitar can easily be achieved by almost anyone who wants to try it.

Great guitar like Jo Satriani, Eric Clapton can mesmerize an audience as they strum the strings to make beautiful music. Their music seems to flow effortlessly from the strings of the guitar, and after watching many people look for the best way to learn guitar so they can imitate the greats.

There are different methods, and it is hard to decide which is the best way to learn to play guitar. As a matter of fact, there are differing opinions on the best way to learn the guitar. There are probably several different methods that could be described as the best way to learn to play guitar depending on the student.

Learning to play a guitar is almost equal to using the best instrument possible. Naturally, people learn faster and easier if they have the right equipment for the activity.

The time spent at work on the instrument depends on your goals. For the guitar as an instrument, nothing replaces a regular practice. It is more effective to work a little each day and that many, but more rarely. For a beginner, a half-hour per day may be sufficient to make steady progress.

First you must know that type of music, you want to learn to play the guitar.Would you play of Johann Sebastian Bach, Matteo Carcassi in this case, but rather choose to learn to play classical guitar.

If you want to play as Guns N’Roses Rock, Eric Clapton, Van Halen, Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits), Jeff Beck, Chuck Berry should be chosen to play the guitar Electric.

Then you want to learn Folk Guitar, played by Grand as a folk guitarist, Judy Collins, Joan Baez, Michael Hedges.

Learn to play Guitar Blues (my favorite).
It is played with an electric guitar type Gibson ES-345 Reissue Electric Blues Guitar. Major Blues are Robert Johnson, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, Rory Gallagher, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Muddy Waters.

Finally of course you have the Jazz, who plays guitar with a type Fender American Standard Jazz Bass Guitar. Major players guitar jazz Pat Metheny, John Abercrombie, Mick Goodrick, George Benson. Now that you know what you want to play, you do not have to choose your guitar.

For this reason, it is important to invest and buy a good, not necessarily the best, guitar. This is because good guitars have better strings that will trigger quality play and better sound. Good guitars provide comfort to those who have not yet experienced playing the guitar.

The bottom line is to get started and once you are familiar with the guitar, then, it would be easier for you to listen to and understand the instructor. Indeed, lear how to play the guitar is as easy as 1-2-3. It just takes a combination of interest, determination, and grit to advance to the next level.

And you’ll see after learned to play the guitar a few hours, you’ll be so happy to replicate your favorite song. And the pleasure and well at this time.

For beginner and before spending money on various methods for learning to play the guitar, start by registering on our newsletter. You will receive a mini course entirely free. is already a beginning and you can at the end of lessons play a whole pieces. And Free ebook

How To Transcribe Guitar Solos

May 10th, 2008

Transcribing - listening to music and figuring out how to play it - is the best way to learn a guitar solo. Unlike just reading a tab or sheet music, the process of transcription improves your ear and forms an instant bond between the music and your playing. It will also help with your notation chops if you choose to write it down.

But… transcribing guitar solos can be hard, especially if it’s your first time.

Here’s a few tips to make it easier:

  • Use software to slow the music down. I use Audacity, which is a free program that works whether you have a Mac or a PC. You can slow it down without changing the pitch.
  • Always practice along with the slow version until you get it perfect, and then work up to normal speed. 50% slower is a good starting point.
  • Work on a single phrase at a time, and then practice connecting them. Think of phrases (individual licks and riffs) as “sentences” that build “paragraphs” (solos).

If you’re not quite comfortable transcribing guitar solos, or if your chops aren’t up to speed, I recommend checking out Team Method Guitar.

Good luck with your transcriptions. Keep it up and you will be transcribing “on the fly” in no time.

What Kind Of Guitar Should I Buy?

May 10th, 2008

So, you want to start playing guitar but you’re not sure whether to get an acoustic or an electric.

Here’s the deal: don’t believe anything that anyone else tells you. There’s a couple of urban legends floating around. One is that you have to start on acoustic; the other is that electric guitar is too loud.

Now, only start on acoustic guitar if that’s the only thing you want to play. Why? Because it’s much harder to play. The strings are heavier and the action is higher. So if you want to start with acoustic, get a set of light strings and a good setup.

If you get a guitar that you love and that’s right for you then you should also consider a self-education course like team method guitar.

One of the main stumbling blocks for a lot of my students is that they get an acoustic guitar before they are ready. And they want to learn rock and roll. And they’re ten years old with little hands.

So don’t discount a cheap and easy electric guitar.

Building Your First Guitar

May 10th, 2008

So do you want to build a guitar or what?

Here’s the deal… I wouldn’t try building an acoustic guitar to start off with. Why? Well, it’s just too hard.

Think about it: you have to glue every piece together. Even if you have a kit, you still have to shape the wood just perfectly, and the humidity has to be just right. Were you born with a sixth sense for this sort of thing? I wasn’t.

So it’s better to start off by building a solid body electric guitar that you know will probably end up playing and sounding real fine, than it is to end up with a clunker acoustic.

Here’s how you do it:

  • Make a parts list. Look at a guitar that you already have. Write down every conceivable part you can think of.
  • Find suppliers for your parts.
  • Practice by taking apart and reassembling a couple of guitars.
  • Build your new guitar.

There are great resources out there for learning guitar building. Once you’ve got your new guitar, use Team Method Guitar to learn how to play it.
